Literary Conversation: Jacobo Bergareche & Juan Tallón

On the afternoon of July 29, the MOP Foundation bookstore hosted a gathering with writers Jacobo Bergareche and Juan Tallón. Both authors signed copies of their works.

JACOBO BERGARECHE

Jacobo Bergareche (London, 1976) is a Spanish writer and screenwriter. He began studying Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid but left the program and moved to Boston, where he studied literature and writing at Emerson College. In addition to writing, he has frequently worked as an audiovisual producer, screenwriter, and advertising creative. Bergareche is the author of the poetry collection Playas (2004), the play Coma (2015), the children’s book series Aventuras en Bodytown (2017), and the essay collection Estaciones de regreso (2019) and Amistad (co-written with Mariano Sigman; Debate/Libros del Asteroide, 2025). His first novel, Los días perfectos (Libros del Asteroide, 2021), became his most acclaimed work, and his second, Las despedidas (Libros del Asteroide, 2023), revisits the theme of grief.

JUAN TALLÓN

Juan Tallón (Ourense, 1975) holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Santiago de Compostela. His professional career soon turned to journalism. He has been a regular contributor to media outlets including El País, El Periódico de Cataluña, and Jot Down magazine. For over ten years, he has hosted a segment on La SER radio show A vivir que son dos días. He is the author of nonfiction works such as Libros peligrosos, Manual de fútbol, and Mientras haya bares. Among his novels are Fin de poema (2015), El váter de Onetti (2013), Rewind (2020), and Obra maestra (2022), which has been translated into several languages and received the Rodolfo Walsh, Euskadi de Plata, and Casino de Santiago European Novel prizes. His most recent novel is El mejor del mundo (2024).
