Paolo Roversi - Doubts

On 20 June, the MOP Foundation will open Doubts, an exhibition by Paolo Roversi that will bring together iconic masterworks and previously unseen images in an intimate journey through his artistic universe.

Over four decades Paolo Roversi has forged a photographic language that is entirely his own. He has an almost uncanny ability to extend the life of his images. As the critic Vince Aletti has said, many of Paolo’s best pictures appear to come together before our eyes’… his work is so vibrant that it can’t be confined to the page or the wall’.

Roversi has chosen the title Doubts for his MOP Foundation exhibition because for him doubt is ‘the open door to creativity and imagination whereas certainty closes that door.’ Doubts brings together many of the characteristic elements of Paolo’s approach including his abiding fascination with the experimental possibilities of Polaroid. For Doubts he will transform the gallery space into a network of inter-connected rooms, each expressing a different aspect of his aesthetic - Theatre, Appearances, Shadows, Doubts, People, Presence, Grace, Beauty and Fading. Taken together they illustrate the dizzying breadth of Roversi’s technical mastery as well as the singularity of his vision and his almost religious conviction that beauty is to be found in silence, in the shadows and the spaces between things.

Doubts will be open to visitors from 20 June until 20 September 2026 at the MOP Center on the Muelle de Batería in A Coruña.
